I think opening a debate on dog ownership is a very good idea. I’m fully in favour of bringing back dog licenses, as it would curtail the rise of dangerous dog breeds by ensuring that owning them would be legislatively difficult – there’d be the double disincentive of the police being more likely to spot dangerous breeds as those not likely to be allowed licenses for, and bringing in cases on this basis. This should be kept cheap, though, although I have my suspicions that owning a dog could become expensive if these measures are re-introduced.
