Denis MacShane is just a Labour puppet

March 9, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, General, UK Politics | Leave a Comment

Total Politics has been rocked [well..] with the resignation of Denis MacShane from the editorial board over Iain Dale’s interview with Nick Griffin. I personally think no-platforming someone like him is just idiotic. It’s views like that which caused The Exorcist to become so popular.

Anyway, for those thinking Denis MacShane was a useful and independent thinker, just look at this idiotic, obviously planted question in Prime Minister’s Questions:

Labour councillor John Warmisham in racist and sexist Twitter drinking session

February 12, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, Entertainment, General, Media, UK Politics | 3 Comments

Labour Councillor John Warmisham, Lead Member of Children’s Services and Youth has highlighted the danger of drunken tweeting when you’re in a position of authority. Many blog readers will know about the spot of bother I got in when referring to someone as a ‘pikey’, when I meant it as a ’scruff’, not the Romanian gypsy type. However, Cllr John Warmisham makes up for where I faltered:

Oh dear. It looks like a hangover will be the least of his worries.

Ian Stafford jailed for stealing undies!

February 5, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, General, Humour/Odd, UK Politics | 5 Comments

You'd never have guessed, would you?

From the BBC:

The ex-mayor of a Lancashire village who got “sexual kicks” from breaking into women’s homes to steal underwear has been jailed for two years.

Ian Stafford, 59, who admitted three counts of burglary, resigned his post in Preesall after his arrest last year.

Preston Crown Court heard how he would creep into their bedrooms and search drawers for the underwear, before carrying out a sex act.

He was caught after one victim set up a hidden camera, catching him in the act.

The Sun claims he was spotted semi-naked, putting on the woman’s underwear and performing a sex act upon himself. Lovely chap, he doesn’t look like a weirdo at all, does he?

Sion Simon as Birmingham Mayor? NASA announces ‘pigs in space’ mission

February 3, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, General, Media, UK Politics | Leave a Comment

Sion Simon has announced he’ll be standing down from Parliament at the next election to contest the Birmingham mayoral race. I wonder if this has anything to do with his expenses or that silly little video he made impersonating David Cameron.

Birmingham council is currently under a Conservative/Liberal Democrat progressive partnership so I doubt very much he’d get the position. If voters are undecided, have a look at this interview he did for SkyNews. Quite remarkable.

The government interferes with the John Terry situation. Surprised?

January 31, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, Entertainment, General, Media, UK Politics | 2 Comments

Why oh why does the government have to butt-in with everything? Gordon Brown rings to see how SuBo is feeling, sends messages to the X Factor finalists and now the British Sports Minister, Gerry Sutcliffe has made his feelings clear about John Terry having an extra-marital affair:

“On the field John Terry is a fantastic player and a good England captain, but to be the captain of England you have got to have wider responsibilities for the country and clearly if these allegations are proven – and at the moment they are only allegations – then it does call into question his role as England captain. I speak to the FA on a regular basis so I will be asking what their viewpoint is and we will see what comes of it in the future.”

What has it to do with him? He’s the British Sports Minister, but if the England captain decides to sleep with a woman other than his wife, should he really interfere?

My opinion is this: I work for a company and was told at the very start that you leave your private life at the door when you walk in. This should be the same for being a footballer. Anything that happens off the pitch should be left at the entrance to the stadium. The ugly truth is that John Terry is better on the pitch than Wayne Bridge is. If Bridge said he couldn’t play on the same team as Terry then Bridge should be dropped. It may not be the correct moral decision but all I and the millions of England football fans care about are the results.

Conservatives follow Brown in stating the Wootton Bassett march should be banned

January 4, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, General, Media, UK Politics | Leave a Comment

Responding to the news that Islam4UK is planning a march in Wootten Bassett, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said:

“We are absolutely clear in our view that the police and the local authority should prevent this march from going ahead. The actions of Islam4UK are utterly objectionable. It has close links with banned preachers of hate and has arranged for them to preach in the UK by audio and video link. We can’t go on like this, the law should already have made it possible for them to be prosecuted for doing that.”

Excellent news. I very much doubt that the police will grant them the license to carry out their protest and that’s a good job. It would cause too much violence, there would be counter-protests and why should we pay the police to manage an event like this? It’s an insult to Britain.

Leader of Islam4UK supports Bin Laden

January 4, 2010 | Filed Under English Politics, General, Media, UK Politics | Leave a Comment

The Prime Minister has said it would be “wholly inappropriate” and the local MP said they would do everything they can to stop it taking place. I’m a supporter of the right to protest but I’m not a supporter of taking the piss. I do hope this doesn’t go ahead or if it does, there is a counter-protest made up of people who aren’t just the EDL or BNP.

Decent and rational people can stand up to Muslim extremism without being called racist or ‘BNP/EDL members’.

Will Unite Against Fascism make an appearance in Wootton Bassett?

The second a British National Party or English Defence League demonstration is staged there is an immediate violent counter-protest by Unite Against Fascism. But surely wanting the UK to be a Muslim state is just as fascist? I wonder if UAF will be making an appearance here. Doubt it.

A town famous for honouring dead British soldiers returning from Afghanistan reacted defiantly today to news that a controversial Islamic group is to march through its streets.

Islam4UK – which calls itself a ‘platform’ for extremist movement al-Muhajiroun – plans to parade through Wootton Bassett, in Wiltshire, in the coming weeks.

What a disgusting thing to do. The people of Wootton Bassett come out to pay their respect to dead British soldiers. They’re not agreeing to the war, they’re merely paying their respects. For this town to be used politically by an Muslim extremist group is disgusting. To hold a protest against the British Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan is an absolute insult and I wish someone had the balls to stop them.

Why I left the Conservative Party

Wherenext

This is in relation to my previous blog.

I’ve been reluctant to write this blog as I felt it might undermine a party that I would still vote for and have friends within, but the more I think about it, the more I’m sure that this case is not unique and is rife across the entire political spectrum, regardless of whichever party and needs exposing.

A week last Sunday on Twitter I was watching The X Factor Results show on Sunday and tweeting along with the show, ranting my opinions on each contestant like most young people too poor to go out drinking. In the heat of the moment I referred to one contestant as looking like a ‘pikey’. Unbeknownst to me, this is an apparent racist term, something which I wasn’t aware of and used it to describe someone who was rather scruffy. Anyway, a couple of tweeters including @snorestore and @ChrispLOL were adamant that I was a racist and as I was Conservative Future Chairman for UWIC at the time they said they were complaining to David Cameron.

In the heat of the moment I regrettably referred to them both as ‘cunts’, which I must say released a lot of anger and tension, I fully recommend it, as does Malcolm Tucker.

Anyway, the following Tuesday I had a call from a person rather high up in the Conservative Party (who shall remain nameless) saying that there had been a complaint addressed to David Cameron that he needed sorting out. He advised me that I should “write a grovelling apology on Twitter” and he would put the mistake down to “inexperience”. Also, after I apologised he said “maybe you will think again before pressing ’send’”.

Looking back on it, I’m furious with myself for apologising and rolling over when he insisted. I’m done with party politics. I may still be a Conservative voter and the people I’ve met in the party have all been fantastic, but the truth is that I can’t be doing with being told what to say, think, write etc. It’s not me.

UPDATE:

I’m rather surprised and heartened at the amount of positive responses I’ve received. A few people have blogged their opinions on it and I think it’s only polite to list them here. Thanks;
