The Colony of Aden has some interesting citizensSky News presenter Kay Burley was forced to make an on-air apology yesterday after joking that a Roman Catholic symbol on American vice-president Joe Biden’s forehead looked like a large bruise.
During a discussion with U.S. correspondent, Greg Milam about a fiscal stimulus package being unveiled by Mr Biden, Miss Burley, 49, was more interested in the ‘nasty’ brown mark.
Suggesting that the ‘large bruise’ might be caused by an accident at the Winter Olympics in Canada, she encouraged Mr Milam to find out.
During an advert break she was made aware of her ignorance.
Lol! The Daily “comin’ over ‘ere “Mail preaching about a Sky News presenter’s religious ignorance!? How did this get past the editors? The hypocrisy astounds me.
I must admit that I’ve never heard of placing ash on your forehead, but I guess I’m ignorant. The rest of the Daily Mail article goes on about how Kay Burley is a terrible news presenter who makes lots of mistakes.

Daily Mail dislikes religious intolerance – LOL!
It’s not a ‘Robin Hood Tax’. Taxing the bankers to help the ‘poor’ is not what Robin Hood was going after. In fact, the phrase ‘Robin Hood Tax’ is a contradiction in itself as Robin Hood was vehemently opposed to tax and he was stealing from the state to give to the many. His entire purpose was to lower taxes, not drive them up!
James Burdett got it spot on when he said it was ‘Taking from the productive to give to the unproductive’. The last thing we want is to increase benefits or money to those out of work. If it is to be used to help prevent climate change, as I read elsewhere, do we really need another ‘Green Tax’ from this government?
The Robin Hood Tax is just there for socialists and other Trots to latch on to a figure of public hatred and propel their communist views. Very sly, it’s what they do best.

The Ben and Arnie Politics PodcastJohn McCain, the sullen, miserable-faced Republican that sat in his chair during a standing ovation of Obama’s State Of The Union Address has continued his criticism of the President – this time in contradiction to his previous policies.
When running for the Presidency, McCain said that he would back a repeal of the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy implemented as a compromise by Bill Clinton, if the army chiefs backed it. However, as Obama has announced today that there will be a year long review of the policy (I’d be spitting feathers if I was an American taxpayer, could be done in ten minutes if it was me – repeal it!) where it will then be repealed, McCain came out with this gem:
But in all due respect, right now the military is functioning extremely well in very difficult conditions. We have to have an assessment on recruitment, on retention and all the other aspects of the impact on our military if we change the policy. In my view, and I know that a lot of people don’t agree with that, the policy has been working and I think it’s been working well.
What a tit. Thank goodness they didn’t elect him. I always say that I’m a supporter of gay equality, not gay rights as it can sometimes go too far, but this policy is incredibly discriminatory and Obama should repeal it as soon as possible.

John McCain supports homophobia = Proof that politicians will lie for votes
Togo banned from the next two African Cup of Nations and fined? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this is probably a bad idea.
After reading numerous articles about Togo being banned from the next two African Cup Of Nations (CoN) and fined for ‘political interference’ by their President who requested they come home as part of 3 days mourning, it seems that the head of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou really does have something against Togo and ruining a Cup Of Nations that many would argue had already been ruined.
Why announce the fact that Togo are banned and fined, just 24 hours before the final? Surely it could have waited, it’s another 2 years until the next one! I’m convinced that they will be allowed to compete following an appeal but they shouldn’t have to. If they fail in the appeal then I think UEFA should allow them to take part in the European Championships in 2012. That would be a nice kick in the teeth.

Let Togo join the European Championships! The second a British National Party or English Defence League demonstration is staged there is an immediate violent counter-protest by Unite Against Fascism. But surely wanting the UK to be a Muslim state is just as fascist? I wonder if UAF will be making an appearance here. Doubt it.
A town famous for honouring dead British soldiers returning from Afghanistan reacted defiantly today to news that a controversial Islamic group is to march through its streets.
Islam4UK – which calls itself a ‘platform’ for extremist movement al-Muhajiroun – plans to parade through Wootton Bassett, in Wiltshire, in the coming weeks.
What a disgusting thing to do. The people of Wootton Bassett come out to pay their respect to dead British soldiers. They’re not agreeing to the war, they’re merely paying their respects. For this town to be used politically by an Muslim extremist group is disgusting. To hold a protest against the British Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan is an absolute insult and I wish someone had the balls to stop them.

Will Unite Against Fascism make an appearance in Wootton Bassett?Soldiers who have lost limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan are being targeted to take part in Big Brother.
The Channel 4 show’s producers were accused of sinking to ‘a new low for reality TV’ in a desperate bid to make the last series the most sensational ever.
So what? If it puts a face to those injured in war and draws the attention of those watching the cause and suffering then surely that’s a good thing?
They’re not ‘vulnerable’, I think that’s an insult to them. They’re very strong and determined people and if they want to appear on Big Brother then let them. They’re not being forced, they’re being used to highlight the fact that there are thousands of troops coming back with limbs or lives lost. It’s tragic and with the publicity Big Brother gets then surely this is a good thing?
Why does the Daily Mail (and all its readers) jump to attention when wounded soldiers or Big Brother are involved? They must all state how awful Big Brother is and how amazing the soldiers are and anything that Big Brother does that includes soldiers is wrong. It’s irritating.
