Wow, as my readers will know, I was already incredibly impressed with the Lady Gaga tour last week and she’s now leaked details of her next tour, once the Monster Ball tour has finished. Digital Spy have broken the story saying that a representative has spoken to MTV saying there will be a 3D tour and DVD.
I’ve no idea how they could make the show 3D – most shows are 3D anyway, it’ll be a fun challenge. I suspect a 3D DVD would be easier to imagine.
Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be an experience and another sell-out world tour. Kanye West tested boundaries with his successful ‘Glow in the Dark’ tour and to sell out huge arenas, you do need to put on something spectacular. I suspect Lady Gaga won’t disappoint.
There are many divas in the music industry now: Madonna’s hanging in there, Britney is just about, Leona is growing, Mariah isn’t going anywhere and Beyoncé sits at the top of the pile. There is however, a very fast rising star who has been catapulted from relative obscurity, supporting the Pussycat Dolls at the CIA a year ago and now selling out arenas around the world: Lady Gaga.
If the crowd was anything to go by, the show would be fun, young, camp and energetic. We weren’t disappointed. After waiting for only an hour inside the venue (we waited four at the Madonna concert) a young glam rock band ‘Semi Precious Weapons’ appeared on the stage to get everyone in the mood. They certainly did that, with loud guitars, incredibly ostentatious attire and the most liberal use of the word ‘motherf**ker’ I’ve ever heard. Once Alphabeat came on it was quite a relief as everyone’s ears had taken a pounding and their cheesy electro-pop sing-a-long was a lot of fun to build us up ready for the Gaga.
The show itself was incredible, I’m not sure who came up with the ideas for her outfits or sets but I want whatever they’re on. Whether she was being ravaged by monsters with fake blood on her chest, playing a burning piano with a flaming tornado erupting out of the centre, slamming the keys on a keyboard attatched to a monster truck or fighting a 20 foot high inflatable sea creature, her voice, singing live, was faultless.
At times she seemed timid, as though she was expecting to wake from a dream, she paused but only to tell the crowd how beautiful they were or how much she appreciated them. Her love and gratitude to her gay fanbase she has seen grow so incredibly over the last year was touching and right at the start she stated that the theme for her show was for everyone to be whoever they are, to lift all restrictions on their lives and have a good time. And lots did. I must have screamed myself hoarse, as did the other thousands packed into the sold out CIA. Out of all the divas wanting to put on a show, they should learn from Lady Gaga. After seeing Britney and Madonna in the last couple of years, Lady Gaga is already head and shoulders above them when it’s down to putting on a live show for her fans. Singing live, dancing, surprising and interacting with the audience; Gaga does it best.
Apologies for being so quiet the last week, I’ve got essays and dissertations due left, right and centre at the moment and hardly find time to tweet, never mind blog. I’m going to London tomorrow to see Ludovico Einaudi so be sure to check my Twitter for what I thought after it. Should be excellent. The other half is bidding on eBay for Lady GaGa tickets on Wednesday so it could be a very eventful week.
Blogging will probably be quite light the next 2 or 3 weeks but I will do my best and blog as much as I can.
This is the front page of The Sun. If true, will she FINALLY dump him? I’m sure the Daily Mail will try and start a campaign to get him dropped from the England team but this is about him and his wife, not football.
Can I request that newspapers stop revealing more of the England team’s sordid love affairs until AFTER the World Cup? Thanks.
Jedward (John and Edward of X Factor fame) have released their debut single today on iTunes and other places where you can download songs.
When I want serious music, I’ll listen to Classic FM, when I want some fun, cheesy, humorous music, I’ll listen to Jedward. I love the novelty, let’s hope they get to number one, if only to p**s off the ones who hate them.
Yesterday I was reading a Twitter conversation in which two people were arguing about modern art. I’ve always been of the view that modern art is nonsense and upon reflection, it’s better than landscape or non-abstract art.
When you read a book, basic details are layed out in the words, the rest of the image, place, people, you read about have to be imagined in your head.
It’s the same with classical music. I like to lay on my bed, close my eyes and imagine what scene the music is describing. It’s incredibly relaxing.
When it comes to art, I don’t want to see a picture of a person, or a drawing of a hill, I like basic colours, objects, shapes to be presented in a way where I can fill in the gaps. I like to make it personal.
The type of people who ridicule modern or abstract art are the type of people who would say a book is better than the film or classical music is better than pop music, so why should modern or abstract art be rubbished? It’s all about using your imagination and making it personal.
I love the Gorillaz. They’re one of my favourite artists of all time and I was gutted a few years ago when they said their second album would be the last. However, they were thankfully lying. They’ve leaked their new song ‘Stylo’, which you can listen to by clicking this link. It is available to download in only 6 days time!

Brian Walker, head at West Park School in Derby, runs the two-hour detentions, featuring Elgar, Mozart, Verdi and Bach, on a Friday after school.
Pupils on their third official warning that week can expect to attend.
As well as listening to classical music for an hour, pupils also have to watch an educational television show.
For example, they have watched the Story of Maths, programmes from the National Geographic Channel, Chinese School and the World’s Strictest Parents.
Is that a detention? Sounds like a perfect night in for me! National Geographic is one of the best TV channels on Sky – then an hour of classical music? I’ve spent the whole morning listening to Mozart and Holst. Lucky buggers!
