Berlusconi must go

Sex Face?

As I’m not Italian I can’t lay scorn on him as heavily as those who have him as their Prime Minister but just imagine if it had happened here. Gordon Brown sleeps with a young escort, pays by helping sort out a building contract and then offers her a seat in the European Parliament. Brown would have resigned quicker than you can say “Brown smears”.

Berlusconi should resign, it’s a shocking breach of trust and abuse of power – as a fellow EU citizen I’m allowed to say that.

Identity cards are a hilariously bad idea

Can't argue with that!

Can't argue with that!

I can put the word ‘hilariously’ in the same sentence as ‘identity cards’ as it’s not a serious suggestion, Labour would have to win a very unlikely fourth term for them to be rolled out nationwide. Thank heavens for that.

Their plan is to get people’s information on a card, make them pay for it, don’t make it compulsary and expect this to improve national security?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a half-baked, useless, waste of money. Has to be the worst policy decision I’ve ever heard.

What do Joanna Lumley and Tim Henman have in common?

henman_hill_1434877c1

The answer? They now have hills named after them!

A popular tourist site in Nepal has been renamed in honour of actress Joanna Lumley and her father.

Local people in Pokhara, 200km (124m) west of Kathmandu, have decided to change the name of Mattikhan Hill to Mattikhan Lumley View.

Ms Lumley, whose father was a Gurkha officer, fronted a campaign for UK settlement rights for Gurkhas started in Kent, the UK home of the Gurkhas.

Wow, what an honour! I must admit that Joanna is the type of celebrity that is welcome in politics. Knows what she wants to fight for, has a good reason to fight and will fight constantly.

A league apart from Esther Rantzen.

Voting irregularities

fail
I recently sent an email to a lot of friends who enjoy reading my blog but don’t read other political blogs. I sent the list of who I was going to vote for to give people ideas if they wanted to vote in the Top Political Blogs. It seems that many of them have reproduced my list and emailed them in. Therefore, those votes have obviously been discounted.

If you are going to vote for my blog, please don’t copy what my nominations are, use your own mind. If you can’t think of ten others then you shouldn’t be voting.

Thanks and apologies for the error,

The case for forced infertility?

July 30, 2009 | Filed Under General, Humour/Odd, Media, UK Politics | Leave a Comment
Copyright: The Sun

What beautiful children they'll produce!

I’m quite surprised that The Sun picked up on this story, I’m sure the Daily Mail will love to get their grubby mitts all over it.

A MUM who has had 13 children is pregnant with her 14th – even though ALL her kids have been taken into care.

Last night brazen baby machine Theresa Winters, 36, vowed to carry on having children until social workers let her and jobless partner Toney Housden, 36, keep ONE.

Defiant Theresa, who lives on benefits in Luton, Beds, declared: “We’re not giving up. For every child they take away from me, I’m going to have another one.”

It goes on to say that nearly all her children have been born with disabilities and some have died.

Does this woman have no regard for human life whatsoever? She knows there’s a high chance that they’ll be born with disabilities and there’s also a great chance that they’ll be put into foster care or up for adoption. What kind of lives are these children going to have and the cost on the taxpayer has run into the millions already! What can we do to stop this woman from giving birth? Ban her? Sterilise her? I don’t agree with either of them but she needs to be stopped. Such a selfish, selfish woman

UPDATE: The Daily Mail has the story! There’s a surprise.

Cameron v Brown US style debate?

July 29, 2009 | Filed Under General, Media, UK Politics | 1 Comment
Maybe a Thai-style fist fight?

Maybe a Thai-style fist fight?

Lord Mandelson has given a hint that Brown could be willing to partake in a US-style live debate with Cameron. What an event that would be! Surely a gamble for Brown who would either look to show that Cameron is of no substance and a bully or lose the fight entirely and possibly slump to a landslide defeat at the election.

There will be many contributing factors as to what impact this will have on the wider audience, the most obvious being whether people actually tune in. I think with the right levelĀ of advertising it could be huge and if it did go ahead, Cameron would need to be full of ideas, not ridicule Brown but show how incompetent he is.

I welcome this suggestion and hope Brown does take Cameron up on the offer.

UPDATE: Apparently Number 10 have denied that Brown would be willing to take part. Bunch of wet tissues!!!

The “Esther Rantzen is…” game

Rantzen has a Prius - there's a surprise!

Rantzen has a Prius - there's a surprise!

Esther Rantzen is a wrinkly, old has-been who needs to massage her ego and pander to press politics. Why she’s standing in Luton I do not know as Margaret Moran will step down at the next election and the Conservative candidate is infinitely better and more capable than Rantzen.

Why doesn’t she stand against a sleaze-ridden MP? Is it because she’s already campaigned in Luton and can’t be bothered starting a campaign again elsewhere? I doubt she’ll even make it to the ballot paper – she has no history linking herself with Luton and now that Moran’s stood down she can hardly be the ‘anti-sleaze candidate’.

Mike Smithson at politicalbetting.com made a great point in how the BBC will report this. Looking at polls, the Conservative candidate is odds-on favourite to win and Rantzen scrapes in at 4/1. I do hope that come the time of the General Election they will rightly see Rantzen as a fringe candidate and not include her in any debates – or will the celebrity culture come out strong and she’ll be the face of the General Election? I dread to think
